Shaban House

Location: Amman, Jordan
Type: Residential
Client: Shaban Family

The house tells the story of family expansion and the harmonious relationship between architecture, landscape and the changing needs of its inhabitants.

This home was originally conceived as a one-bedroom bachelor’s retreat, but its design always embraced future possibilities. Rather than expanding the existing structure when the family grew, a two-story, split-level house was introduced on the upper part of the land, linked to the original by a stone wall and an outdoor pool. This approach preserved ample garden space, allowing the lady of the house, a talented landscaper, to shape a stunning landscape. Over time, the small house evolved seamlessly—from a playground for the children to a guest house, and now, a home for their son and his family—showcasing a thoughtful design that adapts across generations.
