Maisam’s approach in designing the QAIA Mosque was driven by the objective of creating Jordan’s first culture touch point holding all the values of the Islam, Arabia, the country and its leadership. Purity, reverence, asceticism, simplicity, and authenticity where all values that shaped the design of the understated yet impressive place of the worship.
Just like a devoted Muslim praying, the simple mosque structure with its slender minaret sits subtly but gracefully on a public plaza purified by a crisp water surface and shaded by the occasional canopy tree. The expression both indoor came minimalistic and simple, drawing its power from the various elements of nature, light, shade, water, and reinterpreting the traditional elements of Islamic architecture and geometry in a modern vocabulary.
The planning of the project was also based on the traditional planning norms of mosques, form landmark minaret to the arcade walls that define the outdoor court and hold the supporting services.
Maisam’s role in this project includes the full design and supervision service of the architectural, landscape, ID, structural and MEP works.
